Imminent launch of the Incal Infinite : the official game of the cult comics

On the occasion of the opening of the Angoulême Comic Strip Festival, the Humanoids Associates, Why Not AI and KissKissBankBank are pleased to announce the pre-launch campaign of the game “L’Incal Infini” inspired by the cult series by Moebius and Jorodorowsky.

L’Incal, the cult comic book saga born in the 80s from the collaboration between Alejandro Jodorowsky (El Topo, La Caste des Méta-Barons) and Jean Giraud, known as Moebius (Blueberry, Le Surfer d’argent) continues to expand its universe through new experiences offered to fans around the world. After the announcement of a feature film entrusted to New Zealand director Taika Waititi, the masterpiece of the 9th art will also be adapted in the form of a board game.

The Incal Inifini is the creation of two star authors of the game world since we owe them some of the biggest successes of the medium: Guillaume Montiage is the creator of Kemet and Yucatan as well as the new reference of the investigation game Suspects (3 episodes available). For his part, Manuel Rozoy is the founder and conductor of the T.I.M.E. Stories, which has already sold more than 800,000 copies worldwide.

Fans of comics since their teenage years, the two authors wanted to pay tribute to him by designing a game that would share his DNA. Thus, L’Incal Infini is a cooperative card game where the players will join forces with the different characters from the adventures told in the original comics (John Difool, the Meta-Baron…) and whose goal will be to seize the precious artifact that is The Incal before their adversary.

“We wanted to develop an easy-to-access game whose stakes would be understandable both by comic book enthusiasts and by players who had never heard of it,” said Manuel Rozoy. “We had in front of us an extremely rich universe served by a broad and complex story. The idea was to make the players feel this spirit of cooperation, where it speaks constantly to manage to thwart the intrusions of the antagonists, from the Darkness to the Bergs via the Necro-Robot. »

The game is made up of cards, tokens, tiles and pawns depicting the characters and places depicted by Moebius. It is playable from 2 to 5 players, from 12 years old. A game does not exceed 30 minutes.

“Manuel and Guillaume have succeeded in designing a game that immerses us fully in the world of Moebius and Jodorowsky,” says Jean-Martial Lefranc, the founder of Why Not AI. “They created a very intense game, very easy to learn but in which victory is earned after a frantic quest. »

Before joining the traditional distribution channels, the board game will be the subject of a participatory pre-launch campaign on the French platform KissKissBankBank from Wednesday February 22, 2023. Jean-Samuel Kriegk, Director of Operations and Development of KissKissBankBank explains: “The Incal is a treasure of Franco-Belgian comics, a masterpiece that has changed the lives of many readers and especially mine! The entire KissKissBankBank team, a crowdfunding platform specializing in comics and games, is delighted to welcome the pre-order campaign for the first game inspired by Incal. With authors of the caliber of Guillaume Montiage and Manuel Rozoy, it promises to thrill our community of 2.5 million KissBankers. »
